Let’s hope DMO capitalize on this.

Travelmole reports Social networking driving travel boom and while it’s still early to have solid figures to support this statement, I tend to agree with the assessment made in the article of a positive effect these sites can have on a destination and its marketing efforts.

I don’t quite agree that most DMO are mostly focused on attracting foreign rather than domestic visitors – Switzerland long ago made the decision to support both as the share of the domestic market is in the 50% range.

Nevertheless, the involvement of local knowledge and using it effectively to communicate the attractiveness of a destination to any visitors is something I’ve advocated here for quite some time. It should be a no brainer!
