Some things seem to never change

was my immediate reaction reading that the VisitBritain chief calls for more government funding. This seems to be the only constant in the life of any DMO – both effective and less so. When a high level private sector executive of the caliber of Christopher Rodrigues has to appeal to government for adequate funding to maintain essential services, something is wrong with the picture.

When will it be recognized by the controllers of public finances – and volumes have been written in support of this – that destination marketing is one of the most effective generators of revenue for any country, region or city with at least some attractiveness for visitors both domestic and foreign?
